This is the first piece of my ‘Low Tides’ collection. Born and raised in California, I was naturally inspired by the West Coast and the beautiful textures that occur at low tide. The mirror reflection against the matte velvety sand was what really pushed me to create this new collection.
This piece was all sculpted and painted using various materials, starting with a wood base, a carved foam structure and many layers of epoxy pastes and resin to get that smooth finish. The paint is an ultra matte acrylic that I airbrush after I spray with a rattle can. This helps me get the fine details and dimension that I’m after.
